ARCHITECTURE OF THE TOWN
There
are several buildings and a larger number of houses which, with their
architectural style and way of construction characterize the period
in which they were built.
GIMNAZIJA
(LYCCE BULDING)
The Lycce building planned in the national style
was projected by architect Dragutin Maslac, protector of the national
style in profane architecture. Its construction was initiated in 1910,
and completed in the third decade of the century.
ERIC’S
HOUSE
It was built in 1892 as one-storey building in
one of the main commercial streets. It is a representative example of
a typical residential-commercial building.
BUILDING
OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (today “High School of Economics”)
It was built at the beginning of the 20th century.
At that time, it was one of the biggest and most representative schools
in Serbia.
HOTEL
“KREN” (today hotel “Beograd”)
The building is one of the oldest examples of
secession, not only in Cacak, but on the wider territory of Serbia.
The idea for its construction came from Stevan Kren, the first owner
of the hotel. The hotel was built during 1898 and 1899, and it was formally
opened on 1st January 1900.
PUSELJIC’S
HOUSE
It was built in 1905. Its architect was Franc
Nekvasil. It was built predominantly in the neo-baroque manner. Neo-baroque
motifs are prevalent on the indented roof surfaces. The rustic neo-renaissance
elements are observed on the façades of the ground floor. Symmetry,
harmony and multilayer composition dominate this structure.
HADZIC’S
HOUSE
It was built in Gospodar Jovanova street (today
the building of town’s library), in the middle of the 19th century.
Its owner Vladimir Hadzic had a store in Cacak from the year 1848. The
building is executed under the influence of moderate new classicism
of the academic type.
